Creature Skull

•February 2, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I started working on my costume for Purim (the Jewish equivalent to Halloween). It’s gonna be some sort of skull monster. This is a small skull I made from sculpey for a neck piece I’m gonna wear. I dug a hole in the back for the string. Then I painted it with acrylic colors, and ink for the dark areas.

Dana

My friend Dana asked to me make her an invitaion to her 30th birthday. I had this idea to make a portrait of her using birthday simbles such as candles and balloons and the number 30. The style and technique was inspired by Andrew Jones, who I learnt from  in the conceptart workshops in Seattle and New Zealand.

Feedback is more than welcome.

Oil Portrait

•January 6, 2009 • 3 Comments

I decided to make an oil painting of my dad for his coming birthday this month. I had 2 sessions that added up to 4  hours. I didn’t get a lot of oil painting practice before, so i’m pritty happy about getting to such a stage at this pase.

I like taking pictures of my progress for two main reasons: 1. Everytime I want to proceed to the next step, it scares the hell out of me that I’m going to lose the current stage forever. It frightens me! 2. is more practical… To see if i’m losing anything I liked in previous stages, and basicly learn from my mistakes.

I’m using a 50X40 cm Canvas.   4 hours.

2009 begins

I made this drawing on new years… I find it an amusing situation that relies on the war that’s being held in Gaza these days. I don’t mean to say anything about the war, just to give a bit of humor to a bad/sad situation.

May this be a super creative year to us all

I scanned some stuff from my sketchbook, from my recent trip to Thailand/New Zealand. Some were done at the airport, some from live models in the Conceptart workshop.

Oil Painting

•December 4, 2008 • 4 Comments

Oil painting is new to me. It has allways been a mistery to me how it works and why…

So i found out about a short oil painting course in Tel Aviv, with Vadim Koptievski. It was exactly what I needed. A few lessons with a live model, learning a basic technique of working with oils, observing colors and figuring out the lighting conditions (in a studio). Vadim is very enthusiastic and talkative, and I learnt more from every remark he had for my painting, and his explainations were very clear.

This is my painting after 7 lessons, 3 hours each. I didn’t get to finnish it completely so here’s the part I did get done. it’s a start…

Singles Party

I’m arranging a party with a friend. It’s something I wanted to do since a long time, but waited for the right state of mind for it. It’s a singles party for our single friends and friends of friends. This is the drawing for the invitation.
